Meet the leaders

Matt Spiegel

Co-founder & CEO

Matt leads the vision at Lawmatics. Prior to diving into the entrepreneurial world, he made his mark as a criminal defense attorney, experiencing firsthand the challenges that motivated him to launch MyCase. This cloud-based legal practice management solution skyrocketed to popularity. As CEO and GM of MyCase, Matt's leadership was instrumental in its success.

He then went on to found ExpoGuru, revolutionizing event marketing management software. Adding to his impressive repertoire, he served as the CEO of Cammy, a global consumer tech company based in Sydney, Australia.

In 2017, Matt recognized a pressing inefficiency in the legal industry: client intake. Fueled by this realization, he set out to co-found Lawmatics, an all-in-one platform empowering law firms with automated solutions to manage client relationships.

Sarah Bottorff

SVP of Growth

Sarah Bottorff has over 20 years of marketing and sales experience in the B2B SaaS industry. She brings a strong background in building brands and driving growth at companies such as MyCase, Smokeball, CJ Affiliate, Johnson & Johnson, and FastSpring. Sarah is passionate about creating successful go-to-market strategies for businesses and has a proven track record of achieving what she’s set out to do.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys traveling and embarking on new adventures with her three children. She is an avid runner, skier, and yogi, and also appreciates indulging in spicy food, bold wines, and strong coffee.

Krijn van der Raadt

Chief Technical Officer

With over 20 years of experience in software engineering and product development, Krijn has led engineering organizations through fast growth and transformations. At GreatCall (now part of Best Buy Health) he rose from Engineer to CTO while growing the company to $300M ARR and a successful exit. At AppFolio established a platform engineering group to increase development speed, improve platform performance, and chart the path to continuous deployment.



Throughout his career, Krijn has been a dedicated mentor and coach, fostering growth in emerging product and engineering talent. He cultivates a culture of support and personal accountability to ensure that people on his teams reach their fullest potential.



Outside of work, Krijn loves to ski, snowboard, and hike with his family and friends.

Jess Stricklin

VP of Sales

Jess has been in SaaS sales to professional services industries for more than 11 years. He's intentionally focused on empowering his sales organization to scale. As one of the first employees and top sales performer at PatientPop, Jess led the company's first unsupported full cycle AE team in 2017. The team scaled from five reps to 50 in the first three years, going from less than $1M in ARR to $70M in ARR as a company. After PatientPop merged with Kareo to form Tebra, Jess was responsible for the business's entire SDR organization of more than 70 reps.

Jess prides himself on spending as much time as possible with his two daughters and Labradoodle. His family loves to be outdoors, riding bikes, skateboarding, and hiking.

Johnny Bissell

Sr. Director of Customer Success

Johnny leads the Support, Implementation, Engagement, and Product Training teams. With a Communication degree from San Diego State University in hand, Johnny spent a year in Spain teaching English to high school students. Upon his return to the US, Johnny landed his first customer success role at Cammy, which is where he and Matt first began working together. Johnny went on to manage a customer service team at another San Diego-based SaaS startup before joining Lawmatics as one of its first employees in January of 2019.

Since joining Lawmatics, Johnny has developed a passion for legal tech and is on a mission to eradicate inefficiencies from law firms worldwide. When he is not geeking out over automations, Johnny can be found spending time with his wife Hannah and dog Copper.

Bobby Orozco

Director of Sales

Bobby Orozco has a wealth of experience in sales and leadership spanning over two decades. His key responsibility is driving revenue and growth through his oversight of the sales team. Bobby has a proven track record of success in building and leading highly effective sales teams. His exceptional coaching and mentoring skills have helped him inspire and motivate team members to achieve their goals.

Bobby is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned a BS in Information Technology. Beyond work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and two cats. He is also a passionate sneaker head and an avid cook who relishes preparing a wide variety of dishes.

Brett Davey

Director of Finance

Brett leads all finance activities, focusing on driving financial strategies that support rapid growth, efficient capital use, and fostering both customer satisfaction and shareholder value. Previously at AppFolio, he played a key role in supporting the company’s expansion, working closely with leadership on financial modeling, strategic planning, and investor relations during a period of rapid market growth. Known for his collaborative style, Brett builds strong partnerships across teams to align financial insights with business goals.

In his free time, Brett enjoys surfing the many breaks of San Diego, attending live concerts, backpacking in the Sierras, and spending time with family and friends.
